The goal of every backcountry adventure is to have fun and more importantly, come home safe. Of course, planning and practice go a long way to keeping you out of trouble, but as with many things in the mountains, there is always risk and accidents can happen.
Join Jill Weenink to gain the essential skills to respond quickly and effectively during a winter backcountry crisis.
What to Bring: Jacket, warm layers, snacks, notebook, and pencil.
What you will learn:
• Equip Kit: The most essential and versatile tools and supplies for your backcountry first aid kit.
• Build a Sled: How to transport an injured party member.
• Develop Skills: First aid techniques tailored specifically for backcountry emergencies.
• Navigate Procedures: Discussion around SAR and satellite communication protocols.
• Perform Assessments: Critical care checks for the injured party members while awaiting emergency rescue.
Meeting Place: Hummingbird Lodge Café.
Any participants under 19 years of age will need a parent or guardian to sign their Special Events Waiver in order to compete. There will be no refunds for this event.
