Your gateway to the backcountry. Get off the chairlift and get out there!

This is a nationally-recognized course that's essential for adventuring beyond the resort boundary.

You will kick off two action-packed field days at Whitewater Ski Resort by meeting your group and recapping what you covered in the pre-learning materials. You will then explore decision making, avalanche dynamics, and self-rescue skills while moving through backcountry avalanche terrain.

Learn hot tips and tricks from Whitewater’s own Snow Safety personnel on how to make the most of your backcountry adventures. Small instructor to student ratios allow for a supportive learning environment with one-on-one feedback that provide a great setting to meet your future touring buddies.

Success in the backcountry begins here, with an AST 1.

Please note: This is a 2-day course. The date listed on the booking calendar is the first of two full field days that will take place from 8:30am - 4:00pm at Whitewater Ski Resort's Hummingbird Lodge.
